With Notify, student contacts can also receive district-wide and school-wide announcements when they are included as eligible contacts.
Important to know
Student contacts are included under Parent/Guardian contact selections. Because of this, you will not see a separate "Student Contact: checkbox when selecting recipients.
Requirements for student contacts to receive announcements
The following criteria must be met for them to receive these communications:
- The student contact is listed as a contact on the Student Card. (This often appears as Self)

The student contact is marked as a Preferred Contact.
How preferred contacts are managed
Preferred contact settings may work differently depending on your district’s configuration.
Some districts use automatic updates. In these districts, these contacts are updated each night automatically based on SIS data. This may depend on values such as residency or contact flags pulled from your SIS.
Some districts manage preferred contacts manually. Contact updates are made in the SIS first. The updated information syncs into Classic overnight. A user must then manually click the star icon in the student card to mark the contact as preferred.
