Use SchoolStatus to text student contacts via your computer browser or the SchoolStatus mobile app, all while keeping your personal cell phone number private.
Texting a Student Contact from the Web Browser
From the left side menu, click Contacts
Find the person you'd like to text, and click the blue text message icon. (Note that if the icon isn't "clickable" that means the number can't receive text messages.)
Type your 160 character message.
Tip: Did you know that you can translate texts right here? Simply choose the language you'd like to use.
Once you've completed your message, press send. Then, go back to the menu and click Engagement to see your recent text conversations.
Texting a Student Contact from the mobile app
From the mobile app, type in the student's name and select student.
Click on the desired contact.
Note: "Cell" is indicated next to phone numbers that can receive texts.
Click on the message icon
Compose your message and translate, if needed. Once you've completed your message, press send.
Reply to Parent Messages
SchoolStatus will alert you when you receive a message from a parent contact. From the web browser, a red alert icon will appear at the bottom right-hand corner of the screen. Once you click on the icon, the message will appear in the dialogue box. The unread or new message will be highlighted differently from your sent or previously viewed messages.
In the SchoolStatus Mobile App on your phone, a red alert will appear over the message icon.
Click the icon to review your message.
