The Flagged Contacts feature helps identify and manage contact data that may require attention. Flags can be created automatically by the system or manually by users, depending on how the issue is identified.
Understanding the difference between these flag types can help you review contact records more efficiently and take the appropriate next steps.
System Flags
System flags are automatically generated by SchoolStatus when potential issues are detected in contact data.
Common reasons a system flag may appear include:
- Invalid or improperly formatted email addresses
- Phone number formatting issues
- Communication delivery failures
These flags are created automatically and are designed to surface data issues that may affect communication delivery.
You can identify system flags by:
- The Creator field is showing System
- In-product indicators or tooltips when selecting a system-generated flag
Manual Flags (User-Created Flags)
Manual flags are created by users to mark contact records that need follow-up or internal review.
Common use cases include:
- Marking contacts for data verification
- Tracking outreach or corrections
- Supporting internal data cleanup workflows
Manual flags display the name of the user who created them in the Creator field.
Why This Matters
Using both system and manual flags together helps districts manage contact data more effectively by separating automated validation issues from user-driven follow-up tasks.
