You can now set the preferred language for each of your parents so that your messages are sent in their own language so there are no communication barriers. Here's how.
To start, click on My Students on the left main menu.
Next, click on any student's name you wish to view the contacts of and you will be taken to the Student Card. From here, click on Contacts.
Clicking on Contacts will display them on the screen for your review. You can star a preferred contact here and now you can also set their preferred language. To do this, simply click the dropdown labeled as Preferred Language.
Once you click the dropdown, a list of languages will pop up allowing you to choose the one you need. The list is long, so you can scroll up or down to find the one you're looking for. When you find it, just click it!
Once you click your preferred language, you'll see it listed in the dropdown instead of 'None'. It will look like this. *Changing this will also set the language for this contact for all other teachers and admin as well, so please be mindful of that.
That's it! You can close out this student's card or you can view other data points like Grades or Assessments. But wait, there's more...this will now allow you to translate your broadcast messages, too. So, before you send your broadcast, make sure to click the box labeled Auto-translate to preferred languages so that your message sends to your parents in their preferred language.
Designate a Preferred Email Address for a Parent
When sending course or group emails, you can select which email addresses an email will send. Here's how!
Start at the Student Card
From the Contacts tab on the Student Card, you'll notice a new star next to email addresses. Simply click the star to designate the email address as preferred. Click the star again to remove the designation.
Send an Email to an Entire Course
Now that you've designated the preferred email address when you send a course email, it will only send to those marked with the preferred star. Here's how to send a course email.
