SchoolStatus Mobile on iPhone and Android allows you to make calls, send texts, and broadcasts right from your phone. And don't worry, your cell phone number remains private.
How to Download SchoolStatus Mobile
Simply go to your Apple App Store (for iPhone) or Google Play Store (for Android) and search for SchoolStatus or click HERE for iPhone or HERE for Android. Download and you're ready to go!
Getting Started
First off, you'll need a SchoolStatus account. If you don't have one, please contact your district or school personnel to create one for you.
Upon first opening the app, you'll need to enter your Email and Password or use the 'Login with Google' option.

Next, you'll need to set your PIN.

Then, enter the PIN again to save.

Texting a Student Contact from the mobile app
Open the mobile app and click the + at the top right and then choose an Individual Message.
After clicking on 'Individual Message', you'll be directed to the next screen where you can search and select the student followed by the contact you wish to message. Clicking on the contact will bring you to the following screen where you can type your message, add an attachment, translate the message, or call them if you need to.
Once you send your message, you'll see the screen change to show your message preceded by an automatic SchoolStatus message letting the contact know who the message is from. You can send another message to this contact or you can click the back button at the top right to return to the 'Conversations' page.
Reply to Parent Messages
SchoolStatus will alert you when you receive a message from a parent contact. In the SchoolStatus Mobile App on your phone, a red alert will appear over the Conversations icon. The unread or new message will be highlighted differently from your sent or previously viewed messages.
If the reply is in a language you don't recognize, you can click on the translate icon next to the message and select the language you prefer. You can do this on any message that you've sent or received.
Click the translate icon to select your desired language from the list.
In this example, I chose French. Once selected, I'm returned to the previous screen where I can see my initial message and the translated message under it.
Sending a Broadcast Message
*In order to send a broadcast message, you must first mark your contacts' as preferred (here's a help article on that). If you see 0 contacts selected, like in the image below, you don't have any contacts marked preferred with the star.
Create a new Broadcast Message by clicking the + sign in the upper right corner of the screen. Then, select Broadcast Message from the options at the bottom of the screen.
On the next screen, you can name your Broadcast conversation and select your audience. Click the + next to Groups, Courses, and Contacts to search and select those you wish to message.
*Notice the line about contacts within courses and groups only going to preferred contacts.
When you're done selecting your audience, the Create button will appear at the bottom of the screen.
Tapping Create will advance you to the next screen where you can type your message and add attachments if you need to. You can also translate this message using the icon at the bottom of the screen. Click the 'back' arrow at the top left of your screen to go back and edit your audience. When you finish typing your message, click the Send icon at the bottom right.
Once your message is sent, you can return to 'Conversations' to reply to other messages or to start a new message.
Settings
From the Settings tab, you can contact support and do a few other things.
Things you can do here include: contacting support, signing out, and checking your version. You can also enable Face ID and Aut-Translation.
Update your Mobile Notification Settings
In order to receive notifications of new texts or incoming calls, you'll need to allow notifications from SchoolStatus. Here's how.
When you first log in, you'll receive the pop-up box asking if you'd like to 'Allow Notifications'. You MUST click Allow.
If you accidentally clicked 'Don't Allow', you won't be able to turn them back on. You'll want to delete the app and reinstall it.
iPhone Steps to Turn Notifications Off
Click on Settings. Then scroll down to the list of your installed apps. Find SchoolStatus and click it.
Make sure you have the microphone access checked, or your microphone won't work.
Next, click on Notifications, and uncheck Allow Notifications. You can also turn them back on here.
