If you're using an Android 10 device, you may have experienced an issue within our SchoolStatus mobile app where you hear your phone ringing but aren't seeing anything on your display.
Why is this happening and how can I fix it?
You may have a parent calling you back- and you can hear your phone ringing- but you're not seeing any notification or a way to answer the call. This is happening because Android changed how third-party apps, like SchoolStatus, are displayed during use. With the latest release, Android changed the way it handles apps launching from the background. We're working on adapting our app to these changes, but for now, here's how you can resolve the issue yourself. Please follow these steps below and you can continue using your Android device to answer calls from your students' parents.
First, open your phone's Settings menu.
Choose Apps & notifications
Select See all apps
Scroll through your apps until you see SchoolStatus and tap and hold until you see your options. Then, choose App info here. Once you choose App info, you'll see the following options.
Choose Advanced and then choose Display over other apps. (We are using a Pixel here, but if you have a Galaxy device, this can say Appear on top)
Finally, toggle Allow display over other apps to on. This should turn the toggle to blue.
Now that you've turned this feature on, your SchoolStatus mobile app will visually notify you when you have a call and allow you to answer it. If you still need to know how to allow incoming calls, click here to learn more.
